1. Information We Collect
No account. There is no sign-up, no login and no account of any kind. The app contains no advertising.
- Your recipes stay on your phone. Recipes, photos, tags, meal plans and shopping lists are stored in the app's private storage on your device. We have no server that stores them.
- Importing from the web. When you share or paste a recipe link, the app downloads that web page (and its main photo) directly from that website to read the recipe on your phone. The request goes to the website you chose, not to us; like any web visit, that website sees your IP address and a standard browser identification string. We do not receive the link or the page.
- Photos you add. If you take or pick a photo for a recipe, the app stores a copy in its private storage. It uses Android's camera and photo picker, so it gets only the photo you choose and needs no storage permission.
- No advertising identifier (GAID) is requested or used. No ad SDK is present.
- No third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK is present in the app.
- Minimal usage events. The app sends a fixed, minimal set of usage events
to our server (first launch, the first recipe saved, whether the Pro screen was shown and from which screen,
plan chosen, purchase started / completed / cancelled / failed, restore, and a "still installed" ping on day 1 and day 7).
Each event carries a random install identifier, an app tag, the event name and a timestamp, plus for some events a short label (which screen opened the Pro screen, or a generic error category).
The install identifier is a random number the app generates on first launch and keeps for as long as the app stays installed,
so events from the same installation can be counted together for aggregate funnel analytics. It is not derived from your device, your Google account or any hardware or advertising ID,
we do not link it to your identity, and we do not share it with anyone. It is excluded from backups and is replaced if you clear the app's data or reinstall the app.
Events never contain recipe content, links, photos, your name, e-mail, hardware device identifiers or advertising ID.
Raw events are kept for up to 90 days, then only aggregate counts remain. Emulators and developer (debug) builds send nothing.
2. Where Your Data Lives
| Data | Purpose | Stored |
| Recipes, photos, tags, collections | Your recipe box | On your device |
| Meal plan, shopping list | Planning and shopping | On your device |
| Backup files you export (.zip) | Moving or keeping a copy of your recipes | Wherever you choose to save them |
| Ladle Pro entitlement | Unlocking what you bought and restoring it | On your device (verified with Google Play) |
| Usage events (with a random install identifier) | Seeing where people drop off | Our server — raw events for up to 90 days, then aggregates only |
Backup. Android's built-in app backup may copy your recipes and photos to your own Google account backup if you have that enabled, so they come back on a new phone; that is governed by Google. You can also export everything to a .zip file at any time (free).
3. Permissions
| Permission | Why |
| Internet | Importing recipe pages you choose, Google Play purchases and the usage events above. |
| Camera (via the system camera app) | Only when you tap to take a recipe photo. The app holds no camera permission of its own. |
4. Third-Party Services
The app contains no advertising or analytics SDK. Third-party components are provided by Google:
- In-app purchases and subscriptions — processed entirely by Google Play through your Google Account.
We never see your payment details. Subscriptions are managed and cancelled in Google Play.
- Google Play In-App Review — the app may ask Google Play to show its rating dialog. Your rating goes to Google Play.
Websites you import from are third parties; their own privacy policies apply to your visit. Google's handling of data is governed by the
Google Privacy Policy.
5. Overseas Transfer of Personal Data
We transfer no personal data abroad. The usage events in section 1 are received on
Cloudflare infrastructure (which may be located abroad); they carry only the random install identifier and event data described there — no name, e-mail, account or recipe content.
6. Advertising and Tracking
- No ads. The app displays no advertising of any kind.
- No tracking. Nothing about you is tracked across apps or websites. No advertising ID is read.
7. Children
The app is a general-audience cooking tool and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone.
8. Your Rights
- Your recipes — delete any recipe in the app; its photo is deleted with it. Deleting the app removes all local data. Exported files remain where you saved them.
- Usage events are not linked to your identity; raw events are discarded after 90 days. Clearing the app's data or reinstalling it replaces the random install identifier.
- Questions or requests — email us at the address below.
