1. Information We Collect
No account. There is no sign-up, no login and no account of any kind. The app contains no advertising.
- Your voice is analysed on your phone. While the monitor, an exercise or the range test is on screen, the microphone
signal is turned into pitch values (note and cents) in the device's memory. Live audio is never uploaded to us or anyone else.
- Recordings stay on your phone. Audio is saved only when you tap Record. Each recording (a WAV file plus its pitch curve)
is stored in the app's private storage on your device. It leaves the device only if you choose to share it yourself (Pro: share as WAV).
- Your practice history (exercise scores, range-test results) and settings are stored on your device.
- No advertising identifier (GAID) is requested or used. No ad SDK is present.
- No third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK is present in the app.
- Minimal usage events. The app sends a fixed, minimal set of usage events
to our server (first launch, the first time a steady pitch is shown, whether the Pro screen was shown and from which screen,
plan chosen, purchase started / completed / cancelled / failed, restore, and a "still installed" ping on day 1 and day 7).
Each event carries a random install identifier, an app tag, the event name and a timestamp,
plus — for these two events only — a short label: which screen opened the Pro screen, or a generic error category when a purchase fails.
The install identifier is a random number the app generates on first launch and keeps for as long as the app stays installed,
so events from the same installation can be counted together for aggregate funnel analytics (for example, how many installations
that opened the Pro screen went on to buy). It is not derived from your device, your Google account or any hardware or advertising ID,
we do not link it to your identity, and we do not share it with anyone. It is excluded from backups and is replaced with a new one if you
clear the app's data or reinstall the app.
Events never contain audio, recordings, notes or pitches you sang, scores, your name, e-mail, hardware device identifiers or advertising ID.
Raw events are kept for up to 90 days, then only aggregate counts remain. Emulators and developer (debug) builds send nothing.
2. Where Your Data Lives
| Data | Purpose | Stored |
| Microphone signal | Showing your pitch, scoring exercises, the range test | Device memory only — not saved unless you tap Record |
| Recordings (WAV + pitch curve) | Listening back with the curve | On your device (excluded from cloud backup) |
| Exercise scores, range results, settings | Progress, auto key, your preferences | On your device |
| Pitchtrail Pro entitlement | Unlocking what you bought and restoring it | On your device (verified with Google Play) |
| Usage events (with a random install identifier) | Seeing where people drop off | Our server — raw events for up to 90 days, then aggregates only |
Backup. Android's built-in app backup may copy your practice history and settings (not recordings) to your own Google
account backup if you have that enabled; that is governed by Google. A direct phone-to-phone transfer may also copy recordings.
3. Permissions
| Permission | Why |
| Microphone (record audio) | Detecting the pitch of your voice while the app is on screen. Requested on first launch with an explanation; the app stops listening when it leaves the screen. No background listening. |
| Internet | Google Play purchases and the usage events above. |
4. Third-Party Services
The app contains no advertising or analytics SDK. Third-party components are provided by Google:
- In-app purchases and subscriptions — processed entirely by Google Play through your Google Account.
We never see your payment details. Subscriptions are managed and cancelled in Google Play.
- Google Play In-App Review — after a good result the app may ask Google Play to show its rating dialog. Your rating goes to Google Play.
Google's handling of that data is governed by the
Google Privacy Policy.
5. Overseas Transfer of Personal Data
We transfer no personal data abroad. The usage events in section 1 are received on
Cloudflare infrastructure (which may be located abroad); they carry only the random install identifier and event data described there — no name, e-mail, account or audio.
6. Advertising and Tracking
- No ads. The app displays no advertising of any kind.
- No tracking. Nothing about you is tracked across apps or websites. No advertising ID is read.
7. Children
The app is a general-audience music tool and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone.
8. Your Rights
- Recordings — delete any recording in Progress → the recording → Delete. Deleting the app removes all local data.
Files you shared yourself remain where you sent them.
- Microphone — revoke access any time in device Settings → Apps → Pitchtrail → Permissions.
- Usage events are not linked to your identity; raw events are discarded after 90 days. Clearing the app's data or reinstalling it replaces the random install identifier.
- Questions or requests — email us at the address below.

10. Changelog
| Date | Change |
| 2026-10 | First version. |
| 2026-10-13 | Clarified that usage events carry a random install identifier generated by the app (kept until the app's data is cleared or the app is reinstalled), used only for aggregate funnel analytics, not linked to your identity and not shared. |
